Key advantages and architecture

1. Extreme speed and Big Data optimization (50k+ products)

  • Minimal resource consumption: A store with the active plugin loads almost instantly without creating load on the server. This allows deploying large projects on ordinary low-cost hosting.
  • Work with large catalogs: The core architecture is optimized to support more than 50,000 products, categories, and many characteristics without slowing down the database response time.
  • Google PageSpeed Insights scores: 99/100 on desktop and 100/100 on mobile (load speed index of only 900 ms).

2. Full UI/UX independence (templating architecture)

Unlike large e-commerce plugins that rigidly hard-code the HTML structure of the cart and the personal account into their code, Argon Shop delegates the layout to the site theme.

  • The developer has complete freedom: to integrate the plugin functionality, it is enough to simply specify the HTML attributes predefined by the plugin (data-product-id), field IDs (for outputting errors and buttons), and AJAX selectors directly in the theme templates.
  • The layout of elements, CSS classes, and design can be absolutely anything.

3. Intelligent search without page reload (Native AJAX)

  • A fully self-written JS/PHP “live” search module.
  • Supports automatic correction of the wrong keyboard layout.
  • A multi-category output of results in one panel is implemented: the plugin simultaneously searches for matches in products, catalog categories, promotions, news, and articles. Search area settings are flexibly managed from the admin panel.

4. Dynamic Mega-Menu (column balancing algorithm)

  • The plugin is designed for deep category nesting (4 levels or more).
  • To avoid visual vertical imbalance when displaying a complex category tree in 3 columns, a block height calculation algorithm is integrated into the plugin. The function automatically groups parent and child elements of different sizes so that the columns are as close to each other in height as possible.

5. Multi-city architecture (Single Admin Panel)

  • An alternative to bulky WordPress Multisite. The plugin allows managing the catalog for several cities within a single admin panel and a common database.
  • Data (for example, unique product descriptions for Moscow, Istra, etc., as well as SEO parameters) is edited on one page one below another.
  • At the same time, full compatibility with standard WP Multisite is preserved for large federal networks.

6. Own AJAX characteristics system (an ACF analog before its release)

  • A custom characteristics catalog with binding to category levels was developed. In 2018, this functionality was ahead of similar solutions (a similar feature appeared in ACF much later).
  • When editing a product, the list of characteristics on the page is updated dynamically via AJAX immediately after selecting a category.
  • Two types of characteristics are supported: string text fields and complex tree-like options (yes/no selection, lists) formed through parent and child relationships.

🛒 E-commerce functionality “out of the box”

  • Smart wholesale pricing system: Support for up to 4 wholesale price steps with automatic discount recalculation via AJAX right in the cart upon reaching a certain order amount.
  • AJAX personal account: Updating personal data (individual / legal entity), managing security settings (changing email and password), and tracking order statuses without reloading pages.
  • Flexible order form builder: Configuring fields, placeholders, and responsive CSS classes (100% width / 50% width) for 3 form types (Short, Individual, Legal entity) directly from the control panel.
  • Data validation and file attachment: Built-in input validation (phone, email, password length) and an advanced file upload module (with control of weight, format, and output of metadata to the user).
  • Manager panel: A custom order management interface with status changes (“New”, “Processing”, “Completed”), AJAX product search for adding to the receipt, filtering, and bulk deletion.
  • 100% Responsiveness: Both frontend modules (interactive touch slider of the product gallery, mega-menu, forms) and custom admin panel screens are fully adapted to any mobile resolutions.
